England Level series with NZ. Dropping Harmison and Hoggard paid off as Anderson , Sidebottom and Broad have taken the responsibility and delivered. Still England need to improve on fielding , but for the first innings lead, they would have lost as they had dropped 5 catchs. The final test would be interesting

This is an amazing Self Improvement book. This series which had appeared in Junior Vikatan, quotes examples of Indians and their thought process in Indian Context.

The author has also taken additional efforts to discuss some of the issues with the Psychologists throughly before coming up with advice. Whatever age you are , this book will help you understand yourself, your spouse, your parents, your society and make life better for all of us.

The author has mentioned that there is no limit for growth of soul. How true. Through the book you feel like your own mother sitting near you , treating you like a grown son and advising you to follow the right path quoting examples.

It was wonderful journey.

Bangalore Weekend Getaways - Mekedatu (Goat’s leap)

Mekedatu is situated at 98 KM from Bangalore , 35 Kms from Kanakapura to be specific.

Initially you reach a Sangama,the rivers Kaveri and Akravathy meet at this spot.The river is mild and you can cross the river just walking through it.

Once you reach the other side of the river, you have a special bus which is very specifically for pickup and drop to the "Mekedatu", the exact point where the rivers flows ferociously between rocks. If you plan properly you can take snacks and trek up the hill to the spot of "Mekdatu".While coming back we also visited Akravathy dam.

Freddie Flintoff and Harmison are back with a lot of vigour for England. Need to see how Indians face their reverse swing. Munaf Patel and Harbajhan Singh are the two bowlers who are good as of now. India do not have match winning bowlers.

Sawai Mansingh stadium, Jaipur : Indians have happy memories of this ground. In their last match here with Sri Lanka, Sangakarra's stylish 138 propelled Sri Lankans to 298 runs.

Our own Mahendra Singh Dhoni made 183 not out and India romped home making 303.

So flat pitch with a lot of runs. Team batting first has good advantage.

West Indies have a very slight edge over Aussies.Lara, Gayle, Chandrapaul, Bravo, Smith have been among runs.They should howeverbring in Bradshaw who bowls great line and length back and open with Gayle.Gayle should go for attacking.

On the other hand,other than Mathew Hayden,Hussey and Haddin the australlian batsman are not doing good. Their bowling is also not great. Only Lee is amongWickets.

Cricket - DLF Cup

India lost to Australlia and were eliminated from DLF cup. Though the Indian fielding was excellent and the bowling was good, the Indians failed to reach the moderate total of 213. The puffed and panted and lost the match by 18 runs. The top order failed and the tail did not trouble the scorers much.

Dinesh Mongia returning to the Indian team after World Cup 3 years was the lone warrior. He was cool through his entire innings. All Dhoni and the other batsman has to do was to play singles and give him the batting. But that did not happen. The ball was not coming on to the bat and the batsman went for their shots in this crucial match. Unfortunately not all pitches around the world are unfriendly flat pitches. To put it in a single sentence our batsman failed to ADAPT to the pitch and situation.

The difference between Aussies and rest of the teams are they apply relentless pressure consistently and go for the kill.

It is going to be West Indies Vs Aussies final and the team batting first has a huge advantage.

Mind says it is Aussies and heart wants Lara to lift the DLF cup. Anyway these teams are taking positive steps towards World Cup while Indians will come back and add few more advertisements to their profile....

India take on Australlia today. McGrath will be back. Shreesanth is bowling well so Irfan will not get a nod. But I think Ramesh Powar will be better than RP Singh on these kind of Wickets and Ramesh Powar adds to the batting strength. The Winner of this match will take on Windies in final.
India has a psychological advantage of coming in fresh with a win defending a low total.

It is easy to talk about goals than achieving set goals

The India -West Indies match turned out to be low scoring thriller. Again shuffling the batting order did not do any good to Indian batting. Sachin was running out of partners. Dwayne Smith was a surprise to open the bowling and Bravo's slower well disguised slower ball to Agarkar was a beauty.

Lara came 9 down giving more responsibilities to the youngsters but they did not live up to the expectations. Shuffling too much with their batting order did not help West Indies too.

India still have to win Australlians and with McGrath coming back, Dravid has to come in 3rd position rather than opening the innings.

India takes on West Indies in the DLF Cup today.

West Indies have an edge in this match. Why ? Well their confidence is high and they have nothing to lose. They are hungry and want to prove themselves. They are considered as underdogs (by Indian media even after drubbing Indian team 4-1). They have to qualify along with Bangaladesh and Zimabaw in Champions trophy and so they have a set goal.

Both Australlia and India are not taking DLF cup seriously.

The Australlians think these kind of Tournaments are only for preparing themselves for bigger tournaments. For the sake of rotation policy they send back a bowler like Johnson and ask McGrath to rest on bench.

The Australlian in Indian Camp, our coach Chappel also thinks the same way. Hew wants to send Shewag 4 down . He wants Team to be so flexible that Dhoni and Dravid can bowl. It is true that the team should be flexible but that also makes the top order batsman very uncomfortable. Nobody knows in which position they will be playing. Though the opposition cannot plan, I doubt if the players themselves can have a set plan.

Dravid is not doing good opening the innings. He is an excellent player who should take the role of the anchor coming down at three. He has proved it over and over again. Now he is proving that he will never be a good opener. Losing a "Wall" within 10 overs is not going to do any good for India.

Yuvraj is returning from injury and Kaif is returning to bench. Tendulkar has to continue to perform otherwise every newspaper will have a column ready for him. This time around they will bash.

Currently Munaf Patel and Harbhajan are doing good in the bowling department but Irafan is still low in confidence.

The Indian team has to bat first and set a huge total. Further they should add this up with a disciplined bowling and the urge to win

The Coffee Story

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and in life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups and were eyeing each other's cups. Now consider this: Life is the coffee, and the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and do not change the quality of Life. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided."

So, don't let the cups drive you ... enjoy the coffee instead.
